Mai Tai

The Mai Tai is a classic Tiki cocktail, known for its strong rum profile, refreshing citrus, and almond notes, often associated with Polynesian-themed bars. Created in the 1940s, likely by Victor "Trader Vic" Bergeron in California, its name derives from the Tahitian word maita'i, meaning "good".

How It's Made

1. Combine the following ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake until well chilled:

  • 3 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1.5 oz spiced rum
  • 1.5 oz coconut rum
  • 1 tsp grenadine

2. Strain, and optionally garnish with lime wheel and maraschino cherry.
